5. Jamir Garcia- Slapshock

Supporting/endorsing Filipino metal pride. \m/ It’s probable that most of you have probably never even heard of this guy or the band that he sings for, but I am telling you: they are. AMAZING. To me they are the greatest band to have ever emerged from the Philippines or even Asia, and I suggest you try listening to their stuff. For comparisons I guess one could say they have a sound similar to maybe Bullet For My Valentine, from there you get the idea.

The first time I saw them live when they opened for The Cab, Dashboard Confessions, Cobra Starship and The Used, I was completely in shock, especially of Jamir’s singing. I believe his voice can rival singers from big bands, people like Matt Tuck, Chester Bennington, Corey Taylor, or Andy Sixx, Fred Durst—he’ll definitely give ‘em a run for their money. His growling is absolutely mind-blowing, even more so live, the power and the delivery will leave you cold. Even singing light songs his voice is wonderful.

I’d love for you all to try their stuff out, so listen to these: Carino Brutal, Direction, Adios, Misterio, Stranded, Ngayon Na, Asal Demonyo, Langit, Lie (One More Day), Waiting… their better stuff’s in Filipino, but I hope you guys try it out anyway. You won’t be disappointed.
